Best Job Ever.

Today is the day before we leave for California, and I'm doing laundry.WhooHoo!! But I'm also watching a show on the History Channel called "American Eats". This particular episode is on the production and influence of ice cream in America, and they interview the guy with the best job in the world. ICE CREAM TESTER! All this guy does at work is eat... ice cream! I wonder how you get into that? But I bet if I ever was lucky enough to find myself as an ice cream tester I would be very overweight. Because once I start, I can't stop. It would go something like this:

Hmmm.... that first spoonful tasted a little off. I'm going to have to test this whole carton of mint chip. Nope I was wrong that was perfect! Next!!!

A Haircut, A Haul and A Holy Cannoli!

Hi there, as you have probably noticed this blog has been neglected recently. Apparently when I put myself on any kind of schedule that only I am aware of, I slack off because I know I can get away with it! So from now on I am just going to be a free spirit and blog whenever I feel prompted to, but at least once a week.

Haircut. I finally got a haircut! On my day off last week I was cleaning my room and doing laundry for pretty much the whole morning and into the afternoon. Once I finally changed out of my pajamas I realized that I had taken a shower the night before put my hair into a ponytail and had done nothing since. Needless to say my hair was a crazy mess: curly, long, tangled, crispy and overall just horrendous. I started thinking about having to straighten that beast (it usually takes me about 50 mins.) and I was just DONE! I wanted clean fresh hair, and I wanted it right then! So I threw some makeup on and drove to the nearest salon, ready to say goodbye to some serious inches. I was not able to donate my hair this time :( I was scared to go too short and my hair was too damaged to donate anyway. Haircuts are just awesome! That fresh feeling at your new ends, new hair-styles, and a fun new look.

Haul. On youtube when a fashionista or makeup guru shares some of their recent purchases in a video it's called a haul. Like they bought so much stuff they had to haul it in. I am definitely NOT a fashionista or even a big spender but I have been shopping more because I have had a little extra cash lately and an epic employee discount. So here's what I've picked up this summer:

Purple Down East Basics dress ($17.19): Great deal! And it's an amazing summer church dress.
Purple Gap shirt ($10.65): I needed a purple shirt for employee appreciation day so I stopped by and got a cute v-neck one from my favorite store!
Gap real straight jeans ($34.74): Gap jeans are simply the best! They fit in all the right places and they stretch to become your favorite everyday jeans.
Nordstrom coat ($53.32): Little bit of a splurge! It's so cute though, I'm ready for winter..... in a few more months.
Old Navy Shirts ($7.50 each): I had had my eye on these shirts since we got them in earlier this summer so when they went on sale I pounced! They are just normal scoop neck tees but they have beautiful horizontal lace stripes. I bought a dark blue one for me and a pink one for my mom.

I guess in these instances you kind of have to see these things in order to make any kind of judgement about if you like them or not...
By the way this is for the whole summer. Truthfully I am pretty frugal, I understand that there are things I need to get that are more inmortant then the latest trends. Textbooks aren't sexy but they sure are spendy!

Holy Cannoli: My speech goes through phases and this most recent one is saying "Holy Cannoli!". It just comes out, and it's quite embarrassing when it does. I don't even like cannolis! Not that I've had very many in my lifetime..
